He has led policy analyses, developed programming, and contributed to strategic health equity projects related to emergency preparedness, HIV/AIDS, minority health, and mental health services both in academia and in government.

Dr. Nick’s current program of research explores how social and structural factors influence mental health and chronic illness, and explores trajectories and correlates of health and psychosocial factors during the transition from midlife to older adulthood. His most recent research focused on exploring mental health conditions that mediate the relationship between early life adversity and behavioral addictions (problematic internet use and compulsive buying) and the socio-cultural factors that moderate those relationships.
